“Bee” Better with Bombas Socks

– Posted in: Bright Side of Life, Tammy Thinks, Worst Mom Giveaways, Worst Mom Reviews

This post is sponsored by Bombas. I took this gig because they’s good folks.

And because, you see, I’ve always had this crazy dream about owning a business that’s able to “give back.” That’s why when Bombas socks contacted me, I told them I’d tell you guys about them for the low, low price of, well, socks.

Candy dots and Bombas socks

Elfie eating candy off of paper and wearing socks outside with no shoes. Pure heaven.

Seriously, I love these guys. Not only do they make some kickass socks, but for every pair they sell, they give another away to help the homeless. Turns out socks are pretty big on the list at shelters. They’ve already given away 70,000 pairs!

Bombas has been making men’s, women’s, and teen’s socks for a while, but everyone started bugging them to make the socks for kids. So Bombas started an Indiegogo campaign to get the startup cash. When they get the program going, they’ll be able to give socks to kids AND adults who need them (you should help — that’d be cool).

So, why are they such good socks? I’ll let this graphic explain.

Bombas socks

I bought these socks (left) for my son the other day at Kohl’s. They’re about half the price, but check out what they’re already doing after one wash:

Comparing Bombas socks

Fuzzy already…

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve become a fan of better and pricier over cheaper and crappier. After all, you can buy a $10 six pack of socks from Walmart that was made by poorly paid Bangladeshi women working in a crumbling building, but they’ll be worn through in a month. And really, how many scroungy sock puppets can one family have before it just becomes weird?

And this is sort of unbelievable — if your kid wears through or outgrows his/her Bombas socks within a year, they’ll replace them. Feels like a 1970’s Toughskins commercial.

Anyway, Bombas is giving away a pair of their fab socks to one of you fine folks (in the United States only — sorry). There are a bunch of ways to enter — follow them on Facebook or Twitter. Tweet this post. You crazy kids just go nuts.

Good luck! Hope you win some socks. And Jasper agrees with Bombas that we should go out every day and try to “Bee Better.”

By the way, there’s a cute story about the bees on Bombas.com.

Look cool, appreciate you being upfront abt the sponsorship. How do you think they would do with sensory issues focused on socks?

Tammy Soong May 14, 2014, 12:14 pm

From what I can tell, the seam in the socks is really, really minimal. That was sort of one of their deals. I know the kids think they’re super comfy. And I like ’em…

Awesome socks! I also favor better and $$ over cheap and holey. Or something like that. 🙂

I’m not actually entering, because I’m one of those strange humans that doesn’t like wearing socks. I know. Weird. I just wanted to say I LOVE hearing about companies like this that give back in such a wonderful way. Good on them!

Rox, I’m one of those strange humans who walks around barefoot and also in just socks, thus wearing holes in my socks. I would like to hit you up for how you keep your shoes from smelling, though.

Baby powder. Or dry tea bags in the shoes. Both help. Except when I forget and sweat in the shoes all day. Gross! 😉

So wait, you wear shoes WITH the tea bags? Or put them in when you’re not wearing them?

Don’t you love how obsessed I’ve become with this?

I feel the glow of good Karma. My son runs through socks so fast that I can count my age in the number of pairs of socks he runs through. And yes, pricier and better works much better. I am actually the type of person who, while getting the clothes off the clothes line, will check for runs/holes in socks (good gosh, I can’t seem to be able to type socks – keeps coming out as cocks! I corrected that frice! (four times)) – then I patiently mend them, put them in a cover and keep ’em in my “giveaway” box…then distribute them to the folks on the street. No nice shelters here, Tammy.

Bombas. What a cute name. I like Elfie. She’s my kinda girl. And I love your review. I’d enter the giveaway, but I don’t want them folks to spend ten times the cost of the socks to ship it to me 😀
