I’ve been avoiding the news lately. In an effort to de-stress a little, I decided it just wasn’t in my best interest to follow the midterm elections too closely or see precisely what was on fire (with the exception of the trees burning a few hundred miles from my house and causing the air to be less breathable than Beijing’s).
But then the other night, I watched The Daily Show, and I actually ended up punching the laundry. Who even knew you could do that?
Basically my rage all boiled down to “latte-gate.” President Obama exited a helicopter with a cup of coffee in his hand and “people” didn’t think his salute was up to snuff. And yes, I know — this all ranks right up there with flag pins on the “effecting the actual fate of the world” o’meter.
You need to watch The Daily Show clip yourself (the section starts around the 3:15 mark). If you’re a conservative, all I have to say is, bite me. I’m done with all of you. I’ve tried to be nice. I’ve tried to “understand” you. I’ve tried to be civil and present you with information so you can make informed decisions. I’ve tried to make up for the severe lack of logical thinking ability that you somehow suffered as children and is clearly a deficit that cannot be filled in adulthood. But you are a lost cause. Because you see…
- Since this kind of ridiculousness is consistently heaped on President Obama,
- There’s a REALLY good chance the other information coming from the same sources is skewed to malign him and every single step — and apparently, drink of coffee — he takes, so
- You may want to take everything reported from that source as fictitious or at the very least having an alternate agenda.
If you can’t connect those dots, then you’re denser than that elementary teacher who shot herself in the leg in the school bathroom.

Eric Bolling has since apologized (if that’s what you want to call it) for his comments. But let’s be serious. You don’t say that kind of stuff. Ever. Ever, ever. Especially after going on a tirade about respecting the military. The only use Eric Bolling has for men and women in uniform is when he can use them as a weapon for his own useless agenda.
Actually, let me amend that — you don’t think that stuff. And that really is the problem. You can pretend that you respect Major Miriam al Mansouri for her service. But when you can quickly and casually throw out a joke about her boobs as your first reaction to her accomplishments, well then, as they say in The Princess Bride…

A daily show in Canada would be awesome. The Obama salute, have people nothing better to do, seriously? As for Eric Bolling’s comment, some people should think before speaking. I believe our parents teach us that rule.

Yes — we were watching that, too! Jon Stewart is the only TV news I watch anymore. ALL the news channels are so skewed by concerns about ratings and the political agendas of the station owners these days that you can’t take ANY of them at face value. At least on The Daily Show, they admit that what they are doing is News/Entertainment instead of pretending that they are all about impartially relaying the facts like the hypocrites at CNN, Fox News, et cetera do!
