iBallz, UrBallz, but Definitely not Schweddy Balls

So this is something I’ve been dying to tell you guys about. A few weeks ago, a friend pointed me to a website for these:

They’re little ping-pong-sized, hard foam balls that attach to the corners of your iPad (or mini) to keep it from breaking if it falls on the ground. It’s an ingenious invention because it prevents your iPad from ever hitting a surface (I mean, unless you’re still a doofus and whack the middle of it). So if you have kids, well…

Anyway, I love great ideas. But I’m slightly ashamed to admit that what really caught my attention with this particular product was the name — iBallz. Because deep down inside, I’m a 10-year-old boy.

So I wrote to the company and told them about my “10-year-old boy” issues, and they still said they wanted to give you guys some free balls. And even though I didn’t ask, they offered to send me a set of my own balls.

“What color do you want?” they asked.

“They’re kidding, right?” my husband said. “Of course you have to get blue.”

Too. Many. Jokes. . . Can. Not. Compute. . .

So let me tell you, we love our blue balls. We got an iPad for Easter (story to come) and took it to Mexico where the floors are all tile. And we travelled through multiple airports with the kids tossing it all over the place. And yes, people were asking us about out balls. The whole thing started to feel like a Saturday Night Live skit.

“Nice balls! Where did you get those?”

“What kind of balls are they? Do they stick together?”

“Where are your balls?” 

“You need to keep your balls with you.”

“Unless you have your balls, you can’t play with that thing.”

Moving on. . . there’s also what’s called the “lid.” It’s a soft case that fits around the balls to cover the iPad completely. Plus, it can flip around so you can hold the back of the iPad over your hand like a muff and then flip around again to prop it up. There’s even a pocket for your ear buds. Engineering genius.

Of course, just to make my life better, the case is furry inside.

“Wow, this fur that goes over my balls feels great!”

“I can’t believe how well this thing fits — just goes right around my balls so they can still stick out. Someone was really thinking.”

“Which of my balls do I put on the table if I want to watch a movie?”

So anyway, the long and short (yeah, yeah) of this is that one of you guys is going to get $65 to put toward his/her own set of iBallz and a case!
