In September 2012, my 24-year-old cousin, Logan, drowned in Lake Almanor. It was a tragic event that deeply affected his family and friends. We’re all still reeling from it.
I’ve figured out that one of the ways I process pain and grief is through my writing. During the days and weeks after Logan went missing, I had a running narrative in my head that wouldn’t stop until I wrote it out. At the time, I think it provided some clarity and closeness for people who couldn’t be with us at the lake. Now, I’m hoping it will help a fellow “girl in a dark place” get through her own tragedy by seeing that she’s not alone.
