I’m been wanting to show this to you guys, but after the events in Newtown, well, I don’t think anyone’s life has stayed on schedule.
So this is basically a Where’s Waldo book that you can personalize. You send in a photo, and then your child gets to find himself/herself among other children’s faces on every page.
I sent in a picture of my 5-year-old nephew so I could see an example. I didn’t think my 8 or 10-year-old would be that interested in it, and I was right. But they did think it was a cute idea that would be fun for littler kids.
The book is spiral bound so it can lay flat for easy searching. The backgrounds are fun — buttons, candy, outer space. And some of faces have funny stuff happening, like crazy wigs and sunglasses.
The text isn’t anything Shakespearean, but it’s simple and straightforward. Not something I’d want to read every night, but keep in mind that I have major OCD rhythmic rhyming issues, so I’m kind of weird about these things. The child’s name also appears on the last page.
And I think the company is a good one. My nephew’s picture came out kind of dark, and I got an immediate response to my email about it. They offered to send another book and explained that they weren’t sure what happened because the picture looked light enough.
So here’s the cool part: one of you guys is going to get one! We’ll keep this easy peasy. No Facebook signing upping (although you can feel free to do that) or twittering (although you can feel free to join me there, too).

Incidentally, the company can put more than one kid in a book. Even a whole soccer team!
I’m sorry to report that there’s not enough time to order one for Christmas. But you can get one at Bammco.net. The books are a bit pricey — $29.99 plus $4.95 plus shipping. And it increases if you add more kids. But it is a personalized item, so. . . you get what you pay for folks.
This is the place where I say I got a free book from Bammco for writing this review, even though they didn’t actually demand that I write a review for the book (like I said, they’re nice people). And it turns out this isn’t even going to end up helping me with Christmas presents because I’d already gotten my nephew this obnoxious Sponge Bob pillow. So there you go.

My Charlotte is special because she is bright and always wants to be in charge. She hates those who break the rules and gets visibly upset by it…but she is not adverse to finding loopholes in the rules. She is 5 and a joy to have around.

My granddaughter Ava is special because she is so kind to others, at the age of three she already shows so much compassion when others are hurt. She is also smart, funny and loves to sing “you are my sunshine” with her gramma. She is the best!

My kids are special because their humor is infectious. And thank goodness, because I’ve really needed it this week!! (FYI- Just like you..I am pretty honest too and the worst liar. Thankfully I was able to be vague though and the 10 yo only asked a few questions..but yeah I went a bit too far on the ones about how semi automatic weapons work..ugh).
Yep. What a mess. Thank goodness for humor.
On June 8th I will become a grandma. Kyli is one of 6 granddaughters I will receive when Ron and I get married. Kyli is 6 going on 16. She’s equal parts tomboy, diva, philosopher, and clown. She is also extremely sensitive and caring. After the hoorible events of Friday she took a piece of paper and a crayon and was sitting on the floor writing. When her mom asked her what she was doing her reply was . . . “I’m writing a letter to Miss Gina (her teacher) asking her if we can skip recess today and write letters to the kids in that town where the kids died to let them know that even though we;re far away we still care about them.
Oh Barb. That is so sad and so wonderful. Makes me cry.
Tyler is intelligent and sensitive and funny and my reason for living. He is my son, and isn’t that reason enough to be special? To be someone’s child and have their love? 🙂

My 4 year old daughter is special because she has dealt with the death of her sister more amazingly than I could have imagined. She talks about Mikaela often (Mikaela passed away at birth from congenital defects). Even throughout the pregnancy, she would talk about “Squishy” and how she was very very sick, so we had to talk really softly to her (in my belly) and let her know we loved her all the time. She still talks about Mikaela as if she had met her, and tells me she wants to meet her baby sister, but she’s not ready to go to Heaven just yet, so she’ll have to wait. I can’t imagine a child handling this situation any better than she has. Even when she gets overwhelmed by the loss, she hugs me tight and cries and says “I’m sad Mommy, I know you’re sad too, but Mikaela is happy and safe in Heaven. She’s waiting for us”. Lord, this child is so amazing… I am so blessed!!!

My son, James, is the most honest and caring 6 year that I’ve ever met. Every parent I meet has a story to tell about him, like how when no one will play with their son/ daughter on the playground, James can always be counted on to include them. He sticks up for his friends and more importantly will stand up to his friends if they are picking on someone. He routinely defends his little sister (a delightfully devilish little 4 yr old) who constantly is getting into “trouble” and most importantly he is the joy of my life!
He sounds awesome Janice! If you win, you can put him and his delightfully devilish sister in the same book.
My Bella Boo is a spunky little monkey! She’s 3 1/2 and totally ready for kindergarten. Knows her letters, numbers and can almost write her name. The main office at her big brother’s elementary school has ISpy books and she loves searching for a few while we wait sometimes. She would LOVE this book. She’s a funny, thoughtful little girl and certainly completes our family!

My Hailey is the 6 year old light of my life. She is kind and loving to everyone. She runs up hugs you from behind and tells you, “You are such a cutie cutie!” Often, just out of the blue she will walk up to you tell you that she loves and walk away, like she just needed you to know that she was thinking about you. She has amazing empathy for others, and hates when people argue. Even on TV if there is fighting she closes her eyes, covers her ears, and demands we change the channel. She loves being on the gymnastics team and can be found cartwheeling everywhere; including the grocery store, movie theater, and yes, even the local library. Hailey has filled countless notebooks with drawings, and she never passes up a chance to do arts and crafts. She loves to read, and whenever we are at the library we always come home with an I Spy book. She would LOVE this!

I know I missed the contest but I love these types of books. I remember a fun book my parents gave me and my brother. They were personalized with our own names but spelled backwards. So my character was a giraffe named ‘Kerred’. I thought that was so cool. My brother’s book had a lion named ‘Yeldarb’. I still like to call him that every now and again…and he’s 47.
