The other day my 8-year-old said: Eeeeh mom, I was just wondering. You know when you said to me and my little sister that if we, after you told us like a 1000 times to quit doing something and we don’t. Eeeeh, and if we hurt ourselves doing what we are doing we have to call for an ambulance ourselves. Eeeeh, I was just wondering what the number is?
Bad! Very bad! I took my kids from Sweden to New Zealand, to the other end of the world, to a country where they don’t speak the language, and I’ve made them believe that if they hurt themselves they have to call for an ambulance without my help. Talk about passing my post-Catholic-stress-disorder on to my children.
Once I threatened them that if they didn’t start to listen to me I would have to move away for awhile to get some rest. I told them that they now had a choice, either start doing as I tell them or I would move away for a while. My 8-year-old then asked me, quite blasé, if those were their only options or if there were some other alternatives they could choose from. Hahaha, I guess my tactics are not working after all.
I love them so much that sometimes it feels as if I’m going to choke. But they really freak me out once in a while.

Ha ha!! Smart kid though to realize the number would be different. I like the moving away story and am tempted to steal that except my kids might pack for me 🙂
