So this morning, Jasper and I get up before everybody else, as usual, and decide to go for a walk before the blistering heat sets in (Do you like how I make it sound like Jasper actually has some kind of say in all of this? Soon I’ll start writing posts from his perspective and really annoying the crap out of everybody.). As we step out the front door, I’m looking down at a text on my phone and he starts to bark. Crazy dog, knock it. . .
Holy sh. . . Seabiscuit!
Now those of you who hang out here already know that we get wild horses in our yard. They come from the nearby hills to “mow” our lawns, fertilize the streets, and bring life to a screeching halt because almost everybody stops at some point to watch them (if you don’t, you feel like an idiot somehow). But I’ve never been caught this off-guard by them.
Fortunately Jasper actually listened to me for once and didn’t go chasing after them. I got his leash on him, and we slooowly backed up into the house. Then we went around and tried to get out the other side.
No dice.
Honestly, I don’t know a heck of a lot about horses. And certainly not wild horses. I’m pretty sure they busted through the fence at the end of our cul-de-sac a few weeks ago, and I assume this was because they got spooked and started running. So I don’t really want to be on the receiving end of that.
Anyway, Jasper and I opted to come inside, start the coffee, and enjoy the morning from our backyard. And, yes, here I go again, talking like the dog is making decisions.
Start to worry when he opens a Facebook account and gives out his Twitter handle. . .
That is so cool!!! The horses, I mean….not the fact that the dog is now your social planner.

Wow! amazing
You are surrounded by them!
Wow, and I wasn't sure what kind of bird feeder to put outside!
My recent post Frozen Food Friday
You mean there are actual people out there who have dogs who are NOT their social planners??
A fun glimpse into your morning. Where do you live with all those wild horses?
😀 I can't stop laughing! Jasper sounds super cool!
My recent post Things That Matter
They may be pests to you, but they are VERY COOL to me!!! I've seen deer loping down our street (right in town) but wild horses would DEFINITELY throw me for a loop!
As far as I know, we don't HAVE any wild horses in Central Wisconsin – – – a black bear, maybe – – – wild horses, NOPE.
I have a Facebook account for my dog, Ignatius, who is a gigantic German Shepherd. He gets bored, and writes updates every now and then.
wild horses in your yard – how amazing! and we all know the dog makes all the BIG decisions……
My recent post wisdom
We got to see wild horses in NC and it was awesome. Never saw them at someones door before!
I honestly can't believe how much the dog has actually become the social planner. Sick.
One of these days you're going to come down the street and run into these guys.
I know! If we'd been in a car, I would've left, but it was too freaky on foot.
Can you seriously imagine if I put a hay feeder in my lawn? The neighbors would kill me.
Only who aren't in our family.
Reno. But we live on the far end of town, near the hills, so they come down from there and just walk into the neighborhoods. Crazy, huh?
He's cool. Crazy and cool.
We have deer and bears too, but not in my neighborhood. My aunt lives about 30 miles away — she gets deer all the time and she had a black bear next door about a month ago!
Haha! You should've posted the link. I LOVE German Shepherds.
Yeah, no kidding. He's running our lives!
They are mesmerizing. It's like you could just sit and watch them all day.
