So yesterday, I was at the grocery store with my daughter, Elfie, and this old guy driving a Weasel scooter zips by us, kind of close, and I realize he’s tossed something into our cart. I look down, thinking, “What the hell,” and see. . . an orange balloon animal. So I pick it up, show it to Elfie, and we stand there with our mouths open like we’d just won a million dollars.
The guy sort of circles around the citrus section to drive away, and I say, “Thank you!” He gives us one of those Walter Matthau, grumpy old men smiles and heads off into the sunset.
Elfie turns to me and says, “This is why I like to come to the grocery store. So I don’t miss anything!”
Sometimes the world is a beautiful place.
What fun! Balloon animals are so cool!

And easy! And you can just whip them out in a grocery store…
Awww. That’s kinda cute – even for a hardened man-hating cynic like me.
Even you couldn’t hate this grumpy old dude.
Made me smile – awesome!
(which store?)

Raley’s on Wedge.
This is adorable. I am a huge fan of grumpy old men, because as a child visiting my grandma in the nursing home, I had a lot of free time and ended up wandering the halls a lot… I ended up befriending a lot of those old grouches. And most of them were just like this- truly nice people, with a gruff exterior.

My grandpa was a grumpy old man. “Hated” cats. He was the best.
A reminder of how little it takes to make someone’s day.
It’s the small stuff.
I thought it was just a smile that made a difference, but now its balloons …
LOVE it xxxx

I think a smile still works most of the time.;)
I want to shop with you.
Or at least Elfie. She’s the one that’s got it goin’ on.
“So I don’t miss anything.” Your daughter is destined for a happy life. She gets it already!
